Logline

After a struggling father takes his two kids on the run from social services, he attempts to shield them from their harsh reality by making them a promise to the beach. With his son Junior patently waiting for his father to keep his promise, he has to grow up early and challenge his fathers demons to get the family to their happy place. Can he do it?

Director Statement

Senior is healing for me. This is a true story, dedicated to my father who passed away in 2017. But for other black fathers, “Senior” will touch their hearts. They share similar stories and I know they’re out there. My film will bring us together in one place, to let them know they are not alone. One-in-three children in the U.S. live in a home where their biological father is absent. This is not a popular narrative you hear about black fathers in our society.

I hope this film will be a part of the conversation that sparks those in power to reprogram the narrative. I hope this film is recognized as a visual example of the obstacles black fathers face and leads to tangible solutions.

FOllow “SEnior”

“Senior is dedicated to my father and every black father out there fighting for their children.”
