Senior is healing for me. This is a true story, dedicated to my father who passed away in 2017. But for other black fathers, “Senior” will touch their hearts. They share similar stories and I know they’re out there. My film will bring us together in one place, to let them know they are not alone. One-in-three children in the U.S. live in a home where their biological father is absent. This is not a popular narrative you hear about black fathers in our society.
I hope this film will be a part of the conversation that sparks those in power to reprogram the narrative. I hope this film is recognized as a visual example of the obstacles black fathers face and leads to tangible solutions.
